CARBAMIDE/FORMALDEHYDE RESINS
EFFICIENT DETOXIFYING TECHNOLOGY
The problem to radically detoxify carbamide/formaldehyde resins using the domestic technology and chemicals has been maiden
solved.
Technology to detoxify carbamide/formaldehyde (C/F) resins of either type has been developed and proved in action, featuring efficient results, easy apparatus design layout and economic efficiency. Detoxifying efficiency monitoring involves gas chromatography method developed in parallel with detoxifying technology. Pioneered in world practice, the proposed technology has received prime consideration in removal from C/F resin the high-toxic methanol having strong cumulative effect. The above approach is associated with a fact that multiple analytic tests of hazardous volatile substances emanating from those materials containing C/F resins demonstrate the methanol content therein to be 5-10 times exceeding that of formaldehyde; and step by step methanol oxidization causes formaldehyde formation in the
mass.
Targeting to save C/F resin survival capacity after removal of 80-90% methanol (from initial content), non-toxic and non-volatile FORSTAB inhibitor/stabilizer has been proposed and tested. Altering FORSTAB concentration in the resins you may over wide limits adjust both storage terms, and period of C/F resins induction curing in the technological processes. Beyond that point FORSTAB inhibitor/stabilizer binds the fraction of free formaldehyde and enters into copolymerization with C/F
resins.
Practical implementation of developed detoxifying technology and brand new FORSTAB inhibitor/stabilizer made it possible as follows:
1. 3-6 times reduction of formaldehyde concentration in C/F resins.
2. 5-10 times reduction of methanol concentration.
3. Drastically decrease of the cured C/F resins brittleness at the expense of copolymerization with FORSTAB
inhibitor/stabilizer.
Materials and products based upon detoxified C/F resins comply with the most strict hygienic standards, while air pollution level within production facilities features 5-10 times reduction. йт-мр-05 new resin brand devised on the basis of developed detoxifying technology. Experimental/production lots of above resin, as well as chip wood boards with application thereof have been
manufactured.
